Apteo

From 2018–2022, I worked with the founders of Apteo, as their first design hire and eventually as Head of Design. From our beginnings as an A.I.-powered stock prediction app, Apteo has evolved into the best way to help ecommerce store owners segment their customers, create automatic retargeting campaigns, and increase their sales.

Alongside another designer, we work directly with Apteo's founders and Head of Growth to conceptualize, wireframe, and design full user flows to allow store owners to easily connect their stores and begin receiving insights into their business.

The Problem We're Solving

Successful ecommerce store owners tend to have a multi-channel approach to their marketing and advertising efforts. Between social media ads, email, and SMS marketing, it's hard to know where to focus your budget for maximum return.

While many know that it's much more expensive to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one, most store owners spend an outsized amount of money on social media advertising in order to get new customers. However, store owners often neglect their existing customers, and this is where Apteo can help.

The Apteo app generates easy-to-understand Segments which allow store owners to effectively target these customers with different techniques. While your "Big Spenders" might respond well to a new Product Launch email, your "Lapsed Customers" might need a bit more of a nudge in order to make a purchase. With the Apteo app, store owners can easily create automated Campaigns to send the right customer the right message, at the right time.

Getting Started with Apteo

Apteo works quite simply. After signing up, store owners can connect their ecommerce store (Shopify, WooCommerce, and more), as well as any 3rd party integrations (such as Klaviyo or Mailchimp). After we've had time to ingest and interpret the data, we provide Recommendations for Segments to target with Automated Campaigns.

Closing the Loop: Auto Campaigns

To finish the loop, store owners may use Apteo's Campaign Builder to create simple-yet-effective email campaigns to retarget their biggest customers, as well as customers that are at risk of leaving and never ordering again.

Apteo allows you to create a new Campaign in the following ways:

  • Product Recommendation: Apteo will suggest products from your store that we think people will buy. These can be either a cross-sell or a repeat purchase.
  • Segment: Apteo will suggest a group of customers that all have something in common (e.g. Big Spenders, Discount Seekers)
